Jan.20th meeting at the Charlestown Cross Mills Library on RT. 1A.Bring your best find of the year and win a prize! One entry per person. Club members will vote (for any entry except your own or your relative's) and the voting will be observed by members not entering the. Contest. Top vote-getter will win a gold 1/10 oz American Eagle coin. Runners up will receive a silver dollar or 1 oz silver round. Bring food & drinks to share. Meeting topics will include club business for 2002 and the new FMDAC proposal. Door prize, silent auction & 50/50 raffle. Share Food & drinks. Share the rest of your Finds & stories. WE voted to reject the $15.00 dues for the FMDAC & had informal vote have all members belong to the FMDAC with a slight dues change. Will vote on it next meeting
FIND OF THE YEAR 1st place went to Sandy Crouch for her 1907 2 ½ D gold coin (she won a 1999 American Eagle 1/10th oz); 2nd place went to Barry Quimby for his 18" gold chain with large cross and matching bracelet (he won a 1926S silver dollar & 1 yr. subscription to Lost Treasurers); 3rd place went to Barbara Brown for her 1797 Large Cent (she won a silver dollar) · CONGRATULATIONS TO RICH RICE who has been elected vice president of the NE Chapter of FMDAC and to Carol Kononov who has been elected Secretary of the chapter · YOUR VOTE IS NEEDED on two things at the February meeting: (1) a proposal to increase club dues from $15 for single membership and $20 for family membership, with $5 of each membership to be put toward an annual FMDAC membership for the member/family. This is actually a savings to members who are currently paying $12 single PLUS $5 FMDAC / $18 family PLUS $5 FMDAC. (2) Should the April hunt be open or restricted to club members only?

February 17th meeting at the library. Guest speaker: Howie Hewitt of Taunton, MA will speak on his 25+ years of treasure hunting and bottle digging. He will display some of his finds and will identify bottles for members who bring them in and explain the tools he uses for bottle digging. How to find an old bottle dump. Bring food & drinks to share.
Door prize & 50/50 raffle.

Meetings are almost always held on the 2nd Sunday of the month, and fliers/emails are sent out in advance. Club members have indicated they have not received notification about meetings & events.

Please limit your items to three per person. Also we will have Dusty Adams 72 years old "Pappy D." of the Cedar Springs Bluegrass of Danielson, CT. play some old tunes for us & tell jokes. Also Vlad & Carol will videotape & record his memories as a history after the show. Dusty is from Texas & has over 50 years as a musician. MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS ARE NOW DUE! Please plan to renew your annual membership at the March meeting if you have not already done so. April 21, 2002Ocean Beach
All cash money hunt at Ocean Beach New London, CT. 15.00 hunt Fee & all money collected to be buried in hunt 1's 5's 10's 20's a 50 & a 100 dollar bill. The more people the more prize money buried. We will raffle off one of Ed Reynolds a club members great sand scoop. Also we will have a 50/50 raffle & other prizes.
THE OCEAN BEACH HUNT WAS GREAT! $100 token was found by John Benton; the large scoop donated by Ed Reynolds was won by Rich Rice.

BONE SHOW - Valley Green on 379 West St. in Keene . It is very convenient to the show shopping food & everything. Its not as fancy as the big hotel chains but it is 45.00 single & 59.00 double per day which is reasonable. Gateway Treasure Hunters Club is holding their 10th annual Open Treasure Hunt on May 11th at Onset Beach , Onset, Mass. I will mail a copy of hunt application to you and to anyone in the club if contacted at phylroy@juno.com or call Donald Fisher, 508-295-1401.

Sunday 12:30 Meet at Stateline Diner on Route 6 on the Foster, RI Danielson, CT. line for a mystery hunt site & a Steak 14.95 or Chicken Barbecue 12.95 Dinner at 2pm. Hunt an old RI INN site. I need everyone to be prompt & meet me at the Stateline Diner by 1 PM PROMPT. We will leave for hunt & dinner site at 1pm . I need members to come to this great outing as the owners were gracious enough to let us detect their property. No restrictions just cover you holes. I am keeping the site secret so every member gets an equal chance. Rich

July 21st meeting is an informal meeting . Meet at Burlingame at 12:30. Visit, share light snacks & group up to do some detecting. George Streeter gave the club a new Garrett detector at the BONE show. Also Carol won a Garrett at the Bone and the club purchased it off her. We can plan on a October Hunt at a beach in Newport or Middletown, RI & Invite Streeters club and the FMDAC NE clubs to join us. Fridays Narragansett paper ??? they talked about the state buying an $80,000 beach cleaning machine.They plan on cleaning one beach a day

DRIVING DIRECTIONS What: Metal Detecting Club meeting Bring shovels & sifters to bottle dig - plus you land or water detector & light snacks/cold drinks to share. Bring a few bucks, too, to ride the beautiful & historic carousel horses. Arrive earlier than 12:30 if possible. There may be construction delays. Hope to see you there!

At the meeting on Sunday at Cross mills Library we had 11 attendees including 2 guests & 1 new member signed up at meeting. Richard Younkin Providence, RI We talked of a board of directors. We need ideas for Jan. Meeting. We Voted to Cancel the November Hunt at Middletown, RI 2nd Beach & hold A informal meeting & hunt the beaches in Middletown & Newport area. Meet at 2nd Beach Middletown at 12:30 PM till approx. 3:30pm. Notes at last Sundays Meeting. Welcome new member. Christina Markrush won the door prize & a 1985 Mint set. & 17.00 for 50/50 drawing. Richard Younkin join as a new member. He the Brother of member Carolyn Biron. Bought a Minelab Adventurer detector for our hunt. 13' TV/VCR for our door prize at Xmas Party. Took in money for memberships 7 50/50 raffles.

Sunday, Nov. 10 ~ Sunday, Nov. 10 ~ BIG CLUB HUNT SCHEDULED FOR THIS DAY HAS BEEN CANCELED. Instead, members will meet at Sachuest, 2nd Beach, Middletown, RI at 12:30pm - informal meeting & hunt 'til approx. 3:30pm
All New England Invitational Hunt. $15 for members in advance; $20 members day of the hunt; $25 non members. Hunt for tokens which will go into drawing for 2 detectors - Minelab Musketeer Advantage detector (donated by Ed Reynolds Scoops & Minelab Detectors) & Garrett Treasure Ace 100 detector (donated by George Streeter Detectors). Corrected price is 15.00 Members paid one week in advance. 20.00 day of hunt. Nonmembers Paid one week in advance 20.00. and 25.00 at hunt. Volunteers needed for hunt. The Minelab Advantage Musketeer was discounted to the club by Ed Reynolds Scoops & detectors Shannock, RI. Garrett Treasure Ace 100 donated by George Streeters Detectors . Keene. NH. Change Location to 2nd Beach Newport, RI. and list directions. Other prizes will be silver coins buried & cash if more sign up the hunt day day. 50/50 Raffle & Whites Pinpointer Raffle. All hunt fees collected go in the ground less detector prize costs. Rules each & every token found go in a drawing to determine detector winners. No other rules.
